CAMP Malvar, Batangas -- Joint police operatives on Monday collared three persons on board a Caticlan-bound vessel for possession of guns and ammunition in Batangas port, police said yesterday.
Acting Batangas police director Senior Supt. Leopoldo Cabanag identified the three suspects as Marlon Casabar Susano, 43, married, driver, of Bgy. 170, Caloocan City; Maria Victoria Lucero Layco, 41, single, native of Taguidin, Ilocos Sur, and a resident of Quezon City; and Manolito San Roque Susano, 48, married, driver, of Bgy. 170, Caloocan City.
Cabanag said the the suspects were arrested on a tip from a concerned citizen to the Anti-Illegal Drug Group (AIDG) that heavily armed men were on board a white Toyota Coaster without license plates and an ulicensed Toyota Grandia loaded with contraband at Batangas port.
The AIDG agents immediately coordinated with the Highway Patrol Group Region 4A and Batangas HPG, headed by Chief Insp. Marbella, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Philippine Ports Authority and the Batangas City Police Station.
Upon reaching the port, the said vehicles and the suspects were already on board the vessel.
The PCG deployed their K9 units which sat on the said vehicles.
The vehicles were offloaded from the vessel.
When inspected, Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered one Para Ordnance cal. .45 pistol, three magazines, two of which were loaded with 13 live ammo each while the other was loaded with 10 live ammos; one Jericho cal. 9mm pistol with two magazines loaded with 15 and eight live ammo, respectively; and a Beretta cal. .25 pistol with one magazine loaded with eight live ammo. The suspects could not present the necessary permits to carry firearms outside of residence.
The suspects were detained at the Batangas Police Station lock-up cell, facing charges for violation of RA 10591.
