LIAN, Batangas -- A 53-year-old manager of a cockpit was gunned down by unidentified riding-in-tandem gunmen in So. Bagbag, Bgy. Prenza, here, the other day.
Police identified the victim as Avelino Balbar Gatdula, 53, married, manager at Palico Cockpit Arena, in Nasugbu, Batangas, and a resident of Balibago, Lian.
Acting on the shooting incident reported to the Calatagan Police Station by a concerned citizen, a team led by SPO2 Ranie Ebora and SPO2 Elwyn Panganiban, chief of Intelligence Division proceeded to the crime scene.
Case officers PO3s Primitivo Dayandayan and Marco Antonio Villafria said that at 5:35 p.m., the victim was driving a Sym Bunos 110 (BC 6666) and traversing So. Bagbag when shot at close range by the suspects on board a Revo with unknown license plates and quickly fled towards Calatagan town.
The victim was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dra. Gilma Arcales at Apacible Memorial District Hospital, Nasugbu, Batangas dued to gunshot wounds in the chest and back portion of the body.
Police said the victim was on the drug watchlist of the Calatagan Municipal Police Station and also on the list of new drug personalities of the Lian Police Station.
Scene of the Crime Operatives Office (SOCO) technicians recovered a Sym Bunos motorcycle and four empty shells for cal. 9mm at the scene.
