OWING to a medical emergency, a Manila-bound Cebu Pacific (CEB) flight from Dubai was diverted yesterday.
CEB Corporate Communications Manager Hazel Gonzales said Flight 5J015 Dubai-Manila diverted to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, India, at 10:33 a.m. Manila time (or 6:33 a.m. Dubai time) yesterday due to the medical emergency of one of the passengers on board.
Gonzales said CEB coordination with relevant authorities is now being made to ensure that immediate medical assistance is provided for the passenger at a local hospital in Hyderabad.
She said the airline’s ‘customer care team’ is also in direct contact with the passenger’s family to provide any assistance they may need at this time.
It was learned that flight 5J 015 departed Hyderabad at 1:06 p.m. Manila time and is expected to arrive in Manila at 7:10 p.m. or 3:10 p.m. Dubai time today.
“We regret any inconvenience this situation may have caused. We sincerely hope for our passengers’ understanding as the safety of everyone on board remains our highest priority,” CEB said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Gonzales said that due to ongoing adverse weather conditions in Manila and consequential operational requirements, CEB has cancelled the following flights yesterday -- Cebgo Flights -- DG6223/6224 Manila-Caticlan-Manila/Cebu Pacific Flights --5J321/322 Manila-Legaspi-Manila; 5J397/398 Manila-Cagayan-de Oro; 5J504/505 Manila-Tuguegarao-Manil; 5J375/376 Manila-Roxas-Manila; 5J989/990 Manila-General Santos-Manila; 5J629/630 Manila-Dumaguete-Manila; 5J341/342 Manila-Kalibo-Manila and 5J455/456 Manila-Iloilo-Manila.
