IT’S all systems go for the National Press Club Benefit Racing tomorrow at the MetroTurf in Malvar, Batangas.
This was announced by NPC president Paul Gutierrez as he thanked all those who supported the annual racing event that raises fund for the various activities of the club, especially the scholarship of NPC dependents.
“Out of the 12 races to be disputed on Sunday, 11 were devoted to the NPC Benefit Racing which highlights the fourth running of the Philracom-NPC Cup that is being sponsored by the Philippine Racing Commission,” said Gutierrez.
The seven runners participating in the 4th Philracom-NPC Cup are Timeless Magic, Sweetchildofmine, Batang Carmona, Azarenka, Jet Golden, Security Strength and Pure Wine. The winner will receive a guaranteed prize of P180,000.
The 10 other NPC races were named after the following: Cip Roxas Memorial Race; NPC Scholarship Fund Race, Mommy Tiger Rianzares Memorial Race; Willie Baun Memorial Race; Pres. Paul Gutierrez Race; VP Benny Antiporda Race; Butch del Castillo Memorial Race; NPC Mutual Assistance Fund Race; NPC-Philtobo Race, and NPC-Vice Mayor Maca Asistio Race.
“We would like to thank the Philippine Racing Commission and the Metroturf for helping NPC stage this racing festival,” Gutierrez said.
Also to be held tomorrow is the PCSO National Grand Derby that will be disputed by three young fillies over the 1,600-meter distance.
Disputing the P1.5-million at stake are Dance Again (AP Asuncion); Yongyong (Jonathan Hernandez); and Guatemala (Kelvin Abobo). The winner will get P800,000 and the runner-up P350,000.
Third placer gets P200,000.
