Fisherman shot dead

A 30-year-old fisherman was shot dead by a colleague while fixing the boat engine off Bgy. Sanpiro, Balayan, Batangas.

Police identified the slain fisherman as Rodelio Soriano Duman, 30, married, of Bgy. Sanpiro, Bala-yan, and the suspect as Ricardo Garcia Iladia, 51, married, of the same barangay, who is now the object of a police manhunt.
   
The incident was reported to police at 3:20 p.m. on August 7. PO2 Joel  V. Medina and PO1 Francis Joymer R. Abiad responded and conducted an investigation. They said that at about 3:10 p.m. Sunday, the victim, together with a colleague, was fixing the engine of F/B Rene Boy fishing boat owned by Galiciana Garcia Iladia, of Bgy. Sanpiro, when the suspect suddenly arrived  and shot the victim in the back.
   
After the incident, the suspect jumped into the water and swam to the shore and fled, said another fishermen who witnessed the incident. The victim was brought to the shore where he expired.
    
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) and local police processed the crime scene.
   
The body of the victim now lies at Palacio’s Funeraria Balayan for autopsy.
