3 drug pushers slain in clash

A DRUG operation conducted by the Manila Police District (MPD) in Port Area, Manila, the other day resulted in the death of three drug suspects.

It was learned that the shooting took place when members of the Station Anti-Illegal Drugs under Supt. Albert Barot, commander of the MPD-Station 5, carried out its ‘Oplan Tokhang’ wherein cops knock on doors of suspected drug users and pushers to ask them to reform.
   
The police team were reportedly conducting its drug operations along 14th Street in Port Area, Manila, when the suspects engaged them in a shootout. The cops said they had no other recourse but to fire back, resulting in the death of the three suspects. One of them was identified as Sahir Mohamad Omar, another through his alias as ‘Robby’ while the third remains unidentified.
   
Investigation by Det. Ryan Jay Balagtas of the Manila Police District-Crime Against Persons Investigation Section said the incident took place at 11:05 p.m. at the corner of 14th and Delgado Streets in Port Area.
   
Those involved in the said operatios were PO1 Resty Hipolito, PO1 Ron Elly Galvez and PO3 Nestor Lehitimas.
   
Recovered at the crime scene were a .45,  9mm and .357 pistols, four plastic sachets containing shabu and two pieces of P100 bills.
