MALACAÑANG’S hand is clean on the leaked bank documents of Chief Justice Renato Corona.
Thus said deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte even as she brushed aside any hand with the leaked bank documents which PSBank Katipunan branch Manager Anabelle Tiongson said were fake.
Malacañang has no access to these records, Valte told Palace reporters in her regular briefing.
Valte also indicated that the Department of Justice will likely probe the leakage of Corona’s bank accounts for violation of the Bank Secrecy Law.
Valte, however, said the DOJ cannot start the case motu proprio and a private complainant must initiate it.
“If there is an alleged violation of the Bank Secrecy Law, the proper venue would be the Department of Justice because that is a criminal case,” Valte said.
“Normally, it is initiated by a private complaint especially if there is a private entity that is involved,” she added. Efren Montano
