Prosecution bothered by CJ’s P1M raffle win

CHIEF Justice Renato Corona seems to be a very lucky man. Aside from getting a big reduction in the purchase price of a penthouse in Bellagio Tower, he won P1 million in a bank promotion raffle.

The House Prosecution panel bared  that  Corona  won the Philippine Saving Bank’s’s monthly raffle on March 13, 2008.

Because of this, the prosecution panel has requested another issuance of subpoena to the president or manager of PS Bank to testify on Corona’s bank deposits and to bring the original and certified true copies of the records of the bank’s monthly promo.

Earlier, the prosecution panel asked the Senate impeachment court to subpoena several banks where Corona allegedly has bank deposits,

Prosecutors claimed that there is a need to scrutinize these bank deposits in connection with Article 2 of the impeachment complaint or the failure of Corona to disclose his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN).

One of the spokespersons, Rep. Erin Tañada III, said that they want to determine if the bank accounts match the SALN and his present properties.

The prosecution also wants PS Bank to produce the customer identification and specimen signature card/s of the bank account/s under Renato Corona, who won P1 million in the PSBank Monthly Millions Raffle Promo as listed in the official list of winners as of March 13, 2008; monthly bank statements from the time of opening to January 2012 under Corona’s name; and other bank accounts, including time deposits, money market placement, peso/dollar accounts and the like in the name of Corona and/or his wife, Cristina.
