LAWMAKERS who signed the impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Renato Corona warned that his group will exert different moves to delay the proceeding.
Newly-formed Movement 188 said that Corona’s camp is in panic mode because the case against him is very strong.
Eastern Samar Rep. Ben Evardone said the Movement 188 was formed by solons from the administration coalition to assist the House Prosecution panel in the impeachment process.
The group sneered at Corona and said that he is no longer fit to serve in the Supreme Court because of ill-gotten wealth as revealed by the prosecution panel.
The Movement 188 said that the diversionary moves and scare tactics mounted by the Corona camp and its allies at the end of Week 1 of the trial show that hey are “already running scared” and hell-bent on preventing the whole truth from coming out.
More so, now that the 11-member team of House prosecutors is set to present more official and authentic documents and more reliable witnesses this second week.
The group said that among these latest dilatory or ploys of Corona group are put the impeachment court in a straitjacket by asking the Supreme Court to make certain senator-judges inhibit from the trial, and file yet another urgent motion for a temporary restraining order (TRO) for the Supreme Court to stop the Senate from proceeding with the trial.
During the last hearing it was discovered that Corona did not declare in his SALN his real properties.
“The Corona camp is obviously in panic mode this early,” the group said.
