Pinoy seamen hailed

MALACAÑANG yesterday hailed Filipino crew members of the ill-fated luxury liner “Costa Concordia” for showing a sense of “bayanihan”  when the ship began to list after running aground, and assured assistance to them.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Filipino crew members earned everyone’s respect because they continued to help others even at the risk of their own safety.

About 121 crew members of the ill-fated luxury liner had returned home since Friday.

Valte reiterated the Department of Labor and Employment has assistance packages for the returning crew members, especially those involved in extraordinary circumstances.
