2 cops killed in Batangas shooting incident


THREE persons, including two policemen, were killed in a shooting incident the other day in Batangas.

Batangas Provincial Police spokesman Sr.Insp. Dwight Fonte identified the victims as SPO4 Fidel Macatangay and PO3 Melvin Talabis.

One of the suspects, Avelino Ulbata de Paz, also died when the two cops  managed to return fire.

The shooting incident occurred 5:30 p.m. on the national highway in Bgy. Sta. Rita, Batangas City.

The two policemen were on an Isuzu Crosswind when the suspects shot them.

Witnesses rushed the victims to the hospital where the two policemen were declared dead on arrival.

De Paz was found dead 30 meters away from the crime scene.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
