A COUPLE who were busy tending their food stall was shot dead by two men on a motorcycle shortly after midnight yesterday in Malabon City.

Angelito Rarugal, 49, and his wife Rodita, 50, were at their food stall outside their house at 13A, M.H. Del Pilar Street, Barangay Tugatog, when two armed men, both wearing helmets and face masks, approached them at about 12:45 a.m. then shot them repeatedly.

Rodita died on the spot while her husband managed to run inside their house where he succumbed to bullet wounds in the body. After the killing, the suspects, on board a single motorcycle sped-off towards unknown direction.

Malabon police homicide investigators PO3 Julius Mabasa and PO1 Joenel Claro found four empty shells and deformed fired bullets for caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.

Police said the motive of the killing was not drug-elated since the victims were not involved in illegal drug activities.

PO3 Mabasa said they are looking into the victim’s conflict with their tenants who allegedly sent a text message threatening the couple after the victims filed a case against their tenants.

The couple’s son Allan Jay said his parents were receiving death threats before they were killed.
