A suspected drug user was gunned down by four armed motorcycle riders while he was playing an illegal gambling game with his peers yesterday in Pasay City.
Killed instantly was Anselmo Villanueva, 22, of 2639 Gamban Ext., Bgy. 115, Zone 14, after he sustained multiple bullet wounds in the head.
According to a report by Senior Supt. Lawrence Coop, newly-installed chief of Pasay City police, Villanueva was playing dice game with his friends at 4 a.m. on Gamban Extension when the suspects on board two motorcycles with no plate numbers suddenly appeared.
Friends of Villanueva, who refused to reveal their identities, said the suspects were all wearing bonnets and helmets. They said Villanueva was the first to run away when he saw the four riders.
“Sensing danger, the group scampered to different directions while victim ran inside Perez Compound where he was cornered by the suspects,” the report said.
In a sworn statement, the victim’s uncle, John Paul Concepcion said that one of the possible motives behind Villanueva’s killing was related to the latter’s previous involvement in illegal drug activities.
Concepcion said his nephew surrendered to Pasay City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) months ago under “Oplan Tokhang.”
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered seven fired cartridge cases for cal. .45 pistol at the scene.
