A young graphic artist left a video message saying “sorry” to his relatives when discovered hanging inside his rented condominium in Mandaluyong City yesterday morning.
Janus Ariane Arceo, 21, single, native of San Matias, Sto. Tomas, Pampanga, hanged himself inside Unit 509 of Mandaluyong Executive Mansion, in Bgy. Vergara, according to Senior Supt. Joaquin Alva, Mandaluyong police chief.
Investigation conducted by SPO1 Lawrence Punzalan showed that Arceo was discovered dead by his roommate, one Ruel Ramos Jr.
Police said Ramos just arrived home from his work and when he opened the room he was shocked when he discovered the victim hanging on a blue nylon cord looped around his neck tied on the ceiling.
He immediately sought assistance. A rescue team said the victim was already dead for almost an hour.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team, who processed the crime scene, said they recovered a copy of the receipt of the rope he used in killing himself which he bought from a nearby store.
Authorities also recovered a flash drive containing a video left by the victim, saying goodbye to his love ones, including his parents.
Police also said that before the victim’s death, his parents received several goodbye text messages from their son.
The parents of the victim appeared at the station and signed a waiver, refusing to have their son undergo an autopsy and just accept his tragic death, Alva said.
