P’panga CIDG nabs 12 for shabu, illegal gambling

MABALACAT City, Pampanga -- Ten persons, including a local government employee, were arrested here and two others in nearby Angeles City during anti-illegal drug and anti-illegal gambling operations conducted by the Pampanga Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

Chief Insp. Reynold Macabitas, head of Pampanga CIDG, said the 10 were arrested in an apartment in Dona Anicia, Bgy. Dau, this city, last Nov. 19 where they were caught in a pot session and playing “monte”.
   
Macabitas identified the suspects as Rolando Estacio, 67, owner of the apartment; Juan Maninang Jr., 67, Eduardo Go, 49, Jojet Macapagal, 38, Jeffrey Lajara, 35, Almario Del Rosario, 44, Michael Pineda, 33, Reynaldo Balenton, 46, Mike Gamboa, 26, and Enerson Bayani, 32, administrative aide at the city hall here and son of a neophyte city councilor.
   
He said they received information that a pot session and illegal gambling were ongoing inside the apartment of Estacio, prompting them to respond, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
   
Confiscated from the suspects were a set of “monte” cards, two plastic sachets of suspected shabu, two open sachets with white crystalline substance, two aluminum tooters, two aluminum foil strips with white residue and a roll of aluminum foil.
   
It was learned that the city government here has terminated the services of Bayani.
   
Meanwhile, two persons, identified as Jeffrey Paule, 25, and Jesriel Sullano, 29, were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Balibago, Angeles City on Nov. 18.
   
Confiscated from the duo were two sachets of suspected shabu, three sachets of dried marijuana leaves, and the P500 marked money used in the operation.
   
The arrested suspects are facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 for illegal gabling and Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
