A MAN suspected to be involved in illegal drug trade was killed in ambush by six armed men on board three motorcycles before dawn yesterday in Malabon City while a suspected drug pusher was killed in a shootout with operatives in Navotas City.
Meanwhile, seven suspected drug personalities were arrested in Valenzuela, Pasig and San Juan cities.
Anthony Leyte, 40, of Block 9, Hito St., Bgy. Longos, died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds in the head and body. Eleven empty shells and two deformed slugs for unknown caliber of firearms were recovered by police at the crime scene.
Malabon police homicide investigators PO3 Julius Mabasa said Leyte was riding a motorcycle on his way home from Matadero Cockpit Arena in Bgy. San Agustin when he was ambushed on General Boromeo St., Bgy. Longos at 2:15 a.m.
A piece of white paper with words that read “’Wag akong tularan!! Pusher ako!! Adik ako” and three transparent plastic sachets containing undetermined quantity of suspected shabu were found beside the victim’s body.
Malabon police chief Senior Supt. John Chua said joint elements of Follow-Up Unit, led by Senior Insp. Paul Dennis Javier, and Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3 conducted a follow-up operation for possible identification and arrest of the suspects.
In Navotas City, a suspected drug pusher was killed in an encounter with the police Monday night.
Navotas police chief Senior Supt. Dante Novicio identified the slain suspect as Christian Nofable.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered from the slain suspect a cal. .22 revolver, four plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and a plastic sachet of dried marijuana leaves.
Navotas police desk officer PO3 Antares San Antonio said personnel of Police Community Precinct (PCP) 4 were conducting mobile patrol along Tanigue Street in Bgy. North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS) at 11:10 p.m. when they spotted a suspicious-looking man walking along an alley with something bulging in his waist.
When policemen tried to approach the man, he allegedly drew his firearm and fired towards the lawmen, who retaliated, killing him.
In Valenzuela City, five suspected drug traders, including two women, were arrested and at least six plastic sachet containing suspected shabu were confiscated from them during a buy-bust operation before dawn yesterday.
Valenzuela police chief Senior Supt. Ronaldo Mendoza identified the suspects as Elmer Ramos, 53, of 2026 Dayrit Compound, Gen. T. De Leon; Jonathan Dimacali, 42, of 2028 Gen. T. De Leon, Jorge Saturia Jr., 35, of Blk. 2, Lot 4, Senate Village, Novaliches, Caloocan City; Gemma Garcia, 46, of 79 Lawa Road, Obando, Bulacan; and Ana Tobillo, 47, of Blk. 14, Lot 8, Oliveros St., Woodsite 2, Imus, Cavite.
Elements of the Valenzuela Police Community Precinct (PCP) 2, led by Senior Insp. Jesus Mansibang, were conducting a buy-bust operation when they arrested the suspects at 1:30 a.m. at 2026 Dayrit Compound.
Mansibang said his men earlier conducted two-week surveillance against the suspects inside the Dayrit Compound.
A police poseur-buyer used P200 in marked money and after the transaction was completed, operatives nabbed the suspects, who resisted.
Aside from several plastic sachets of shabu, police also recovered from the suspects drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.
Meanwhile, a notorious drug peddler was nabbed during a raid by the police and yielded shabu and marijuana in Pasig City while a woman drug pusher was nabbed in San Juan City, according to Eastern Police District (EPD).
Hergie Gutierrez, 31, of 1400 Rocha 5, Rodriguez Compound, Greenfield Subd., Bgy. Rosario, Pasig, was nabbed inside his residence at 11 p.m.
The raid was conducted after a week of surveillance on information that the suspect was involved in illegal drug activities.
A team, composed of Pasig Police Station Anti-Illegal Drugs (SAID), led by PO3 Allan Caponga, swooped down on the house of the suspect based on the warrant of arrest issued by Pasig RTC Branch 152 Judge Danilo Cruz, according to EPD director Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula.
Caponga said they seized 25 grams of shabu worth P30,000 and mari-juana fruiting tops placed inside a clutch bag.
The woman drug pusher in San Juan City was arrested by police following a buy-bust operation on Tuberias St., Bgy. San Perfecto, at 9:10 p.m.
The suspect, Madelyn Basibas, 42, of 7 Mana C. St., Bgy. Batis, was arrested by SAID operatives headed by Insp. Edwin Malabanan.
Basibas was caught after handing over illegal drugs to a police poseur-buyer. She was charged with violation of Secs. 5 and 11, Art. II of RA 9165.
