FANS of Janella Salvador’s love team, called by their fans as MarNella, with Marlo Mortel are happy because they’re together again in the Regal Metro filmfest entry, “Mano Po 7: Chinoy”. The last time they were paired was in “Haunted Mansion”, an entry in the filmfest last year that was a blockbuster hit, earning almost P150 million at the box office.

A lot of people were surprised when Janella was suddenly separated by ABS-CBN from Marlo, where their love started in “Be Careful with My Heart”, and she was abruptly paired with Elmo Magalona who just moved in from GMA-7. As we all know by now, the ElNella tandem with Elmo in “Born for You” was not as successful so it didn’t last very long on the air.

Now, we heard that despite the lukewarm reception of viewers to the ElNella love team, they will be paired again in another sitcom that will start airing in 2017. “Paano, 'yung show na ipinalit sa kanila, ‘Till I Met You’ ng JaDine, mas mababa pa ang rating kaysa sa ‘Born for You’,” says our source. “Nag-single digit nga sa rating, which never happened sa ‘Born for You’. So abangan nila ang pagbabalik ng ElNella on primetime.”

SARAH GIVEN A NEW CHANCE

SARAH Lahbati was on her way to big stardom at GMA after she was launched in “Kokak” when she rebelled and she also got pregnant and had Baby Zion. Now, she’s slowly showing her presence again and we’re glad she’s given a second chance as she’s only 23 years old and really has the qualities of a promising star and actress. She not only looks very good on screen but can also act well.

As of now, she has just finished a new movie, “Kamandag ng Droga”, directed by Carlo J. Caparas and made in support of Pres. Duterte’s drive against the drug menace. She co-stars with Christopher de Leon, Lorna Tolentino, Meg Imperial, Mark Neumann, among others. She has also started a new movie with Director Erik Matti for Reality Entertainment. We heard ABS-CBN is likewise preparing a new show for her. Well and good, we’re happy for Sarah. As for her inamorato, Richard Gutierrez, he has also just finished “Miracles are Forever”, where he plays a soldier who miraculously survives the infamous Mamasapano Massacre. We’re hoping Richard will soon also go back on primetime TV as his star wattage has not at all lessened even if he’s now a young dad.

Sarah is getting along fine even with her prospective mother-in-law, who she considers her second mom. When Annabelle celebrated her birthday recently at Resorts World's Maxim Hotel, Sarah sang "Le Vie en Rose" for her, in its original French version, for which she got a hearty round of applause from all the guests.

'THE BEST OF OPM HITMAKERS'

CONCERT producer Anna Puno is producing a concert, “The Best of the OPM Hitmakers” starring Hajji Alejandro, Rico Puno, Rey Valera and Marco Sison. “I first produced a concert for them at Solaire Theatre a few months ago and it was a big hit,” says Anna. “So now, pinagsama-sama ko sila uli at special guest pa nila si Jessa Zaragoza.”

Rey and Jessa was the first to arrive at the show’s presscon at Jet7 Bistro, then came Marco and Hajji. Rico was so late and came more than one and a half hours late. “Sanay na kami diyan, sa the late Rico Puno,” quips Rey whose career is getting a big boost with his exposure as a judge in “Tawag ng Tanghalan’ for nearly a year now. “Minsan nga, out of town ang show namin, nandun na kaming lahat sa airport for our flight, pero si Rico, wala pa. Madalas, naiiwan ng eroplano. So sa concert, paano 'yan, wala si Rico? Hajji is the one who leads us and tells us what to do so, nagre-rehearse kami nang wala siya. Tapos, sa concert mismo, kapag lalabas na kami on stage, biglang darating si Rico, so babaguhin namin uli ang earlier na napag-usapan namin para isali siya. Pero tanggap na namin 'yun. Ang importante, benta sa tao mga jokes niya on stage. So nahahawa kami sa pagpapatawa niya. Kahit inatake na siya’t naoperahan sa puso, parang walang nabago sa kanya.”

When Rico finally arrived, he admits his lifestyle has changed after his operation. “Hindi na ako masyadong gumigimik. Nire-reserve ko na lang ang energy ko, lalo ngayon, konsehal uli ako sa Makati. 63 na ako, e, so mas concerned ako sa mga gaya kong senior citizens.”

The hitmakers promise to make the night very entertaining for their audience on their “The Best of the OPM Hitmakers” concert on December 9, 2016 at The Newport Performing Arts Theatre as Resorts World. “We’ll be singing our own hits dahil siempre, hahanapin 'yun ng tao,” says Marco. “But we’ll also sing a lot of new songs for the younger crowd.” You can get your tickets at Ticketworld, 891-9999 or at their website, ticketworld.com.ph
