Store owner shot dead, woman wounded by MC-riding assassin

A store owner was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital while his partner was in critical condition after being shot by an unidentified motorcycle-riding suspect in Sitio 1, Bgy. Balagtas, Batangas City, Sunday night.

Batangas City police chief Supt. Barnard Danie Dasugo identified the fatality as Roberto Domingo Delgado, 57, married and the wounded as Marivic Salvador Manuntag, 44, both of Sitio 1, Bgy. Balagtas, Batangas City.
Traffic enforcer Zandro Balena reported to the  Batangas City Police Station thru cellphone the shooting incident at 10:35 p.m.
Investigators PO2 Edsel dela Cruz and SPO1 Doni Irvin Casayuran said that at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, the victims were inside their sari-sari store when the unidentified suspect, wearing black bonnet and gray T-shirt, suddenly appeared and shot them several times.
The suspect quickly fled on a gray car of unknown license plates while the victims were rushed to Batangas Medical Center (BMC) for treatment.
Delgado died while undergoing treatment attended by Dra. Carmela Andal while Manuntag sustained gunshot wounds in her nose and left leg.
Delgado was listed as newly-identified drug personality while the other victim is listed as number 42 drug personality on the drug watchlist of the police station, said Dasugo.
The Batangas Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (BPCLO) was requested to conduct technical investigation and autopsy on the victim.
Investigators recovered 10 fire cartridge casings for cal .45 at the scene.
Delgado’s body was brought to Holy St. John Funeral Homes in Bgy. Kumintang Ibaba, Batangas City, while Manuntag is still undergoing treatment at BMC.
