FOR allegedly refusing to be accosted for not wearing the required helmet while riding a motorcycle, a rider was shot dead in Sampaloc, Manila, yesterday.

A probe by SPO4 Glenzor Vallejo of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section identified the rider as Crispin Dacio, 26, of 367 Algeciras St., Sampaloc, Manila.  He sustained gunshot wounds in the body.

Reportedly at 2:45 a.m., Chief Inspector Christian Dee Cacho and PO1 Aldrin Aviar  were aboard a mobile car when they saw Dacio riding a plateless motorcycle without a helmet in front of the Esteban Abada High School on Blumentritt Extension in Sampaloc.

The cops flagged him down but while they approach him, Dacio allegedly drew a gun and fired at Cacho. The latter fired back and hit him, killing him instantly.

Allegedly found on Dacio were a .38 cal. revolver and a block of dried marijuana leaves.
