CALACA, Batangas -- A 48-year-old barangay official was shot and stabbed several times by a jobless man in Sitio Pulo, Bgy. Cahil, here, Wednesday afternoon.
Town police head Chief Insp. Telesforo Domingo III identified the victim, who is in critical condition in the hospital, as Juan Vidal Digno, single, barangay official of Bgy. Cahil, this town.
Domingo identified the suspect, who immediately fled after the incident, as Zeus John Vidal Jolongbayan, 20, single, jobless, of Sitio Pulo, Bgy. Cahil.
Elements of the Calaca Police Station, led by SPO1 Armel Aristo, with case officers SPO2 Jose Elpidio Caraig Bruno Jr. and PO2 Ryan Pacis Dullaven conducted an investigation which showed that at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, the victim was approaching his girlfriend’s house (auntie of the suspect) when the angry suspect, who was armed with short firearm, saw him and fired at him twice.
When the victim fell down, the suspect grabbed a pointed weapon and hacked him several times, investigators said.
After the incident, the suspect fled on foot.
The victim was taken to Ospital ng Calaca for treatment.
Investigation said that on Nov. 8, 2016, the suspect was scolded by Juanito Digno Vidal, the victim’s cousin, when he entered the latter’s house.
He accused the suspect of “stealing” his money a week ago.
The suspect was offended by the accusation and uttered, “babarilin ko kayo” and immediately left.
