CAMALIG, Albay -- The mother of a 55-year-old landowner who was hacked and beheaded by a tenant is crying for justice.

Leticia, mother of Edwin Llenas, wailed during the confrontation with their tenant, Teodoro Odin Jr., 70, at their agricultural land in Bgy. Nina, this town, police reported on Thursday.

Camalig police head Chief Insp. Benito Dipad Jr. said the suspect earlier fled from the crime scene but was eventually arrested by the police on Thursday. Odin said he killed Edwin “in self-defense.”

Dipad said that investigators found the body of Edwin with no head and with multiple hack wounds  at his farmland.

Initial police investigation bared that Llenas confronted his tenant and ordered him to leave his land.

Reportedly, Odin was asking disturbance payment as a land tenant for 25 years, triggering an argument between him and the landowner that later turned violent.

A 24-inch bolo used in hacking Llenas was later recovered by the police from Odin.
