A 17-year-old out-of-school-youth (OSY) was shot and killed by suspected members of a vigilante group a few meters away from his house Monday afternoon in Caloocan City.
Ronel Aleta, of Phase 2, Package 3, Block 75, Commercial Area, Bgy. 176, Bagong Silang, died on the spot from a bullet wound in the head while the still unidentified assailants, wearing bonnets and face masks, quickly fled.
Caloocan police chief Senior Supt. Johnson Almazan said Aleta left their house past 1 p.m. to buy cigarettes from a nearby store when two unidentified gunmen followed him and shot him in the head at close range.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered an empty shell and a fired bullet for unknown caliber of firearm at the crime scene.
The victim’s mother, Wenie Aleta, admitted to police that her son was involved in illegal drug activities.
