Police confiscated firearms, various ammunition and drug paraphernalia during a raid on the house of an optometrist located in a posh subdivision in Quezon City.
Acting QCPD director Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said combined personnel of the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) and District Public Safety Battalion-Special Reaction Unit (DPSB-SRU) implemented Search Warrant No. 5221 (16) issued by Judge Bernelito Fernandez, of the National Capital Judicial Region (NCJR) RTC Branch 97, at the house of Joselito Maximo Sanga, an optometrist, at 43-E N. Domingo St., Bgy. Valencia, QC.
Eleazar said they received reliable information that Sanga was in possession of unregistered firearms and assorted ammunition, a violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police, however, failed to arrest Sanga, since upon sensing police presence, he hurriedly fled, leaving behind his sister, Teresa Maximo Sanga.
The operatives conducted the search in the presence of Teresa and Barangay Valencia watchmen which resulted in the confiscation of a cal. .45 pistol with expired license, a cal. .22 pistol, three magazines for cal. .45 pistol, 118 rounds of ammunition (12 for cal. .45, 79 for cal. .22, 12 for 9mm, three for super cal. .38, one for cal. .40 and 11 for 5.56mm), an airsoft rifle (M16 replica), four magazines of M16 (airsoft), an AK47 Airsoft replica, two magazines for AK47 Airsoft replica, an HKMP5 Airsoft replica, two magazines for the HKMP5 replica, a pistol barrel with built-in silencer, three silencers, two rifle scopes and one smoke grenade.
Two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, three aluminium foils with suspectedshabu residue, a digital weighing scale, one disposable lighter, one improvised tooter, which were all in plain sight, were also seized.
Charges of violation of RA 10591 and RA 9165 will be filed against the suspect in the Office of the City Prosecutor.
