Robber slain in clash

A suspected robber died in s a shootout with policemen Wednesday night in Quezon City.

Acting Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar identified the slain suspect as Jeanmar Salvaleon, alias “Bangkoy”, 25, with no permanent address.
   
Officials of Bgy. Mariana said the slain suspect was a known “akyat-bahay” suspect and was allegedly involved in a heist in New Manila last October 16, carting away P200,000 worth of cash and valuables.
   
A report gathered from the QCPD-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the incident happened at 8:15 p.m. on Manga Rd. near corner Aurora Blvd., Bgy. Mariana, QC.
   
Operatives of Tactical Motorcycle Riders (TMR) of Galas Police Station (PS-11) were patrolling the said place when they saw the suspect hastily alighting from a passenger jeep and ran across the street.
   
The operatives chased the suspect to verify his unusual behavior and to render assistance if needed.
   
However, the suspect suddenly pulled out a gun and fired at the officers who returned fire and hit the suspect.
   
The wounded suspect was rushed to University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival.
