TWO suspected drug personalites were killed by suspected vigilantes while two others were injured by police operatives in separate operations in Valenzuela, Caloocan, Makati and Parañaque cities.
Edwin Pasigan, 50, of 4268 Diam St., Bgy. Gen. T. De Leon, Valenzuela City, was rushed by his relatives to Valenzuela City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival due to gunshot wounds in his face and abdomen.
Valenzuela police chief Senior Supt. Ronaldo Mendoza said Pasigan was sitting on the side of the road along Diam Street and was talking to someone on his mobile phone at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday when two men on board a single motorcycle stopped in front of him.
The back rider, wearing black jacket and full face helmet, alighted, pulled out a caliber .45 pistol and shot the victim repeatedly in the face and body. The suspects then escaped towards Liwayway Street.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered at the crime scene three empty shells and a fired bullets for caliber .45 pistol which will be submitted to PNP Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.
A follow-up operation was immediately conducted by Valenzuela Police Station Investigation Unit for possible identification and arrest of the suspects. The motive behind the killing is yet to be determined. In Caloocan, a notorious drug pusher, who was no. 1 on police drug watchlist, was gunned down when he tried to engage lawmen in a shootout during a buy-bust operation yesterday.
Caloocan police chief Senior Supt. Johnson Almazan said Angelo Detector, 28, of 101 Milagrosa Ext., Bagong Barrio, Bgy. 154, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in the body. A caliber .38 revolver and an undetermined quantity of suspected shabu and marked money were recovered by police from the slain suspect.
Almazan said Detector has been engaged in the illegal drugs trade for several months and reportedly disposed an undetermined quantity of shabu a week, prompting elements of Police Community Precinct (PCP) 1 Focus Team to conduct a buy-bust operation..
At 3 a.m., a police poseur-buyer was able to transact with Detector in front of his house in Milagrosa Extension but the suspect after sensing the presence of lawmen, drew his firearm.
A brief shootout ensued between the lawmen and Detector until the suspect was hit in the body that caused his untimely death.
Meanwhile, two men, including a former barangay official, were shot and seriously wounded by alleged members of the Deadly Death Squad (DDS) out to liquidate suspected drug suspects, in separate shooting incidents the other day in Makati and Parañaque cities.
The first incident took place at 1:15 p.m. at the corner of JB Roxas and San Mateo Sts., Bgy. Olympia, Makati City.
Supt. Jenny Tecson, Public Information Officer of Southern Police District (SPD), identified the victim as Jose “Momoy” Lazaro, 38, a former barangay ex-officio, who was rushed to Makati Medical Center (MMC) due to several bullet wounds in the body.
Tecson said police report showed that Lazaro was driving his gold colored Toyota Innova (ZAK 898) when riding-in-tandem DDS gunmen suddenly appeared and shot him several times before they sped away.
Police refused to say whether the shooting incident was drug-related.
In Parañaque, Larry Nunez, of Bukid Area, Santa Ana, Bgy. Sun Valley, was shot in the head by an unidentified man at 8 p.m. just meters away from him house.
Witnesses told police that Nunez was walking when the gunman suddenly appeared and shot him at close range and fled.
Nunez was rushed to Parañaque Doctors Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
