A House leader is considering giving additional reward for the immediate arrest of Ronnie Dayan, Senator Leila de Lima’s alleged bodyguard-lover.
Chairman of the House justice committee Rep. Reynaldo Umali said he will discuss with Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez the possibility of the House giving reward money to those who will provide information to the whereabouts of Dayan.
Last week, the committee adopted a motion ordering Dayan’s arrest for him to appear and testify before the committee about his knowledge on the drug operations inside the New Bilibid Prisons.
Most of the witnesses, inmates of the NBP, who testified at the congressional inquiry pointed to Dayan as the one receiving drug money in behalf of De Lima, then secretary of justice.
When asked for the status of Dayan, Umali said they do not yet know his location.
Dayan was sent an invitation twice to testify before the committee hearing but failed to do so, which prompted the House panel to cite him in contempt.
“Meron ng reward na inoffer yung VACC, wala si Speaker, baka I might also raise this up, raise this issue to the Speaker baka makatulong,” Umali said.
Umali did not mention how much the House can give for reward money, as he will first get the decision of Speaker Alvarez.
The committee decided to terminate the legislative hearing on issue but members agreed to reopen the inquiry once Dayan is presented.
