A barangay chairman was ambushed by four armed men on board two motorcycles who riddled him with bullets while he was walking on his way home in Binondo, Manila, the other night.

Victim Rico Echalos, 47, chairman of Bgy. 296, Zone 28, District 3, and residing at 901 Ma-sangkay St. in Binondo, died on the spot due to 13 gunshot wounds in the body.
The suspects, who were wearing bonnets and helmets, remain unidentified and sped away after the shooting.
SPO2 Charles John Duran of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the shooting took place at around 9 p.m. at the corner of Gandara and Ongpin Streets in Binondo.
Duran said the victim had just come from the Gandara Police Community Precinct (PCP) to help a constituent who was arrested for estafa and was on his way home when the suspects shot him simultaneously.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but died while receiving treatment.
