TANAUAN City -- Three drug offenders were nabbed by police during a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Darasa, here, Tuesday.
Batangas police director Senior Supt. Leopoldo Cabanag identified the suspects as Michael Gonzales Pedraja, alias Makol, 31, of Bgy. Poblacion 6, no. 30 on drug watchlist; Aris Cacatian Andaya, 38, of Bgy. Trapiche, both in this city, no. 230 on drug watchlist in Lipa City, and drug pusher Arnold Latorre Leal, of Bgy. Poblacion 7, Lipa City.
At 6 p.m. on October 11, members of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit (CAIDU), led by Senior Insp. Ricaredo Dalisay, in coordination with PDEA, conducted a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Darasa, this city.
PO1 Randy T. Garcia, who acted as poseur-buyer, was able to buy from Pedraja and Andaya a small plastic sachet of suspected shabu, utilizing three marked P1,000 bills.
Accordingly, the third suspect, identified as Arnold Leal, arrived in a BMW (UFL512) car to deliver the illegal drugs.
After the transaction, the suspects sensed that they were dealing with policemen.
Leal tried to run away but was immediately arrested by the cops who recovered from him 13 sachets of suspected shabu. Pedraja and Andaya managed to run away in a Toyota GLI (TPM399) car towards Bgy. Sta. Maria, Sto. Tomas.
However, the two suspects were chased and later arrested by the officers.
Authorities seized a cal. .45 pistol, a magazine with six live ammunition from the suspects.
The recovered illegal drugs, weighing 42 grams, were brought to the Regional Crime Laboratory Office, along with the suspects, for drug test, said case officers PO2 Jayson M. Paras, PO1s Jhune Carlos M. Coballes and Julius Andrew D. Dionisio.
The suspects were detained at the police holding cell, facing charges for violation of Section 5 and 11 Article II of RA 9165 and RA 10591.
