Woman shot dead in Batangas

A 33-year-old “Oplan Tokhang” surrenderer  was shot dead on Sunday by an unidentified suspect while on board her vehicle in Bgy. Sico, Lipa City.

City police chief Supt. Carlos E. Barde identified the victim as Mary Ann Llanes Togonan, of Villa de Lipa 1, Bgy. Marawoy, Lipa City.

The incident was reported at 2 a.m. on October 9 via telephone call to the police by a security guard of Events Center building in Bgy. Sico.
Duty investigators SPO1 Oliver del Rosario Morcilla, PO3 Rodel Mea Silva and PO2 Arnold Roca said that at 1:47 a.m. on Oct. 9, the victim left Room 205 of Events Center where she and her children  checked in.
The victim was about to board her Isuzu Trooper (XRA 226)  to go to Corner Route Bar in Bgy. San Sebastian to see her friend who invited her.
At that instance, one of the suspects alighted from a car parked beside the victim’s car, approached her and shot her once in the head.
The victim fell down bloodied and lifeless.
Thereafter, the suspects immediately boarded their getaway vehicle and sped away.
The victim was rushed by concerned citizens to Mary Mediatrix Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival by an attending physician.
Investigators said the victim was one of the drug surrenderers at Lipa City Police Station during Oplan Tokhang. They found one fired bullet for unknown caliber of firearm at the scene.
The cadaver of the victim now lies at the hospital morgue.
