SAN Leonardo, Nueva Ecija -- A six-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was hit and wounded when his grandfather went on a shooting binge and fired consecutive shots at their house here Sunday night.

Provincial police director Senior Supt. Manuel E. Cornel identified the victim as Andrei Cauzon, a Grade 1 pupil, and the suspect-grandfather as Angelito Paras, 50, both of Purok 7, Bgy. Mambangnan, this town.

Investigation showed that the boy was playing in front of the house at 6:30 p.m., together with his parents Efren and Victoria, when the suspect arrived and for no apparent reasons fired consecutive shots at the house using a short firearm of unknown type and caliber.

The bullets hit the boy, who sustained two gunshot wounds in the chest and left hand.

Cornel said the young victim was rushed to Dr. Gloria D. Lacson General Hospital where he was now listed in critical condition.

Cornel said the suspect is now being hunted down by the police after he escaped after the incident using a red Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle.
