LACUAA: UPHSD completes twin kill

CALAMBA, Laguna -- University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta showed too much class in beating San Sebastian College-Canlubang  62-36, for a winning start in the fourth LACUAA basketball tournament at the   UPHSD gym in Calamba last Sept.24.

Renz Carteciano, Nathaniel Natanauan, Junthel Aries Namo, El Sadam Garcia and Jade Rafael Naraga combined for .41 points for UPHSD, which is  being handled by coach  Deonicio “Dennis” Lapastora.
Carteciano led the way with 11 points.
Jeniel Gastador  paced  SSC-Canlubang with 11 points, followed by John Vincent Merciales  with  five,  Emmanuel Dinen  with four.
UPHSD completed a twin kill  by downing Calamba Institute-Canlubang,  91-46, in the high school division.
Zaldy Necia  scattered 24 points, Carlos De Villa added 15 and Gerardo Tamayo  contributed 14  for UPHSD of coach Danilo Ligsay.
CI-Canlubang  was  paced  by  Samuel Dolloso (14 points), Jhon Lance Paner (9) and Jonathan Pelicano (8).
In the other high school match,  SSC nipped Don Bosco Institute of Arts and Sciences, 70-68, behind the 21 points of  Ian Patrick Collantes and 18 points of Paolo Geluz.
Joshiel Gastador,  Philip Mina and Christian Dimen added 24 points for SSC of coach Mark Christopher M. Buhain.
Bon Henry Jimenez  carried the fight for Don Bosco with  19 points, followed by Von Andrie Nullas with 15 and Eduardo Semillano  with 14.
Elementary action saw  Don Bosco overwhelm  YPHSD, 54-40.
Prince Cholo Velasco. Angelo Nepomuceno, Karl Mari Javier, Enrico Magat, and Eljohn Paul De Robles shared scoring honors for  the Jose Jimmy T. Sambrano-mentored Don Bosco.
UPHSD  was led by  Jerald Baradas, Glenn Ashley L. Grimaldo, Lou Victor Castro, Benedict Gonzales and Veejay Vincent Bermejo.
In volleyball, UPHSD downed  Trace College, 25-14, 21-25, 25-16-25-18, in the men’s division behind  the  efforts of Dave Bryan D. Fabela, Emmanuel J. Reyes and Jhunly D. Tubog.
Colegio San Agustin-Binan defeated UPHSD,  25-22, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17, in the women’s section.
Jhohan A. Caguia, Jonalyn B. Abeo and Roxanne D. Alfaro starred for CSA.       Ed Andaya
