POLICE Regional Office 4-B director Chief Superintendent Wilben M. Mayor has ordered all Mimaropa units to triple their implementation of “Project: Double Barrel” launched by Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” M. dela Rosa to solve drug trafficking.
The PNP’s anti-illegal drugs campaign dubbed “Double Barrel” is being conducted in a two-approach project -- “Tokhang” and “HVT or High-Value Target.”
In a visit at the Palawan Police Provincial Office and the Puerto Princesa City Police Office, Mayor, joined by PRO4-B deputy regional director for operations Senior Supt. Elmer C. Bantog, underscored the need for the Mimaropa police to do their share in ridding the country of drugs. The region comprises the provinces of Mindoro Oriental, Mindoro Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.
Mayor, a former PNP spokesman, said 266 known drug personalities have been added to the list of those who have been accounted for by the PRO4-B through the conduct of “Oplan: Tokhang” over the past 12 weeks.
Since July 1, he said that 18,442 confessed drug dealers and users have surrendered to the Mimaropa police.
Mayor said the 266,250 were confessed shabu or marijuana users while the 16 admitted they used to sell drugs.
He said since July 1, they have also arrested 257 notorious drug traffickers in the region, 20 of them caught in anti-narcotics raids, service of warrants of arrests, buy-busts and police response.
Mayor talked with Palawan police led by Senior Supt. Roade P. Tombaga and Puerto Princesa City police headed by Senior Supt. Redentor J. Marañon during his visit and held meetings with owners of beach resorts, hotels, bars and other commercial establishments about security issues and other concerns. Alfred Dalizon
