NORWEGIAN national Kjartan Sekkingstad, who was released just recently after being held hostage for almost a year by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), left the country yesterday to finally go back home.
Sekkingstad flew to Norway via Bangkok on board Thai Airways flight TG 621 at past 1 p.m. yesterday.
Accompanied by some staff from the Norway Embassy, Sekkingstad was also sent off by government personnel.
Sources said some staff from the Department of Foreign Affairs were seen at the dignitaries’ lounge of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 where Sekkingstad stayed prior to his flight.
After his release, Sekkingstad met with President Rodrigo Duterte and was quoted as saying, “I am very happy to be alive and free.
