POLICE shot dead four wanted drug personalities in separate gunfights in Cebu, Camarines Sur and Albay provinces, police reported yesterday.

Police Regional Office 7 director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño said one of the slain suspects turned out to be involved in the killing of a traffic enforcer in Carcar City three days ago.

He said that suspect Bimboy Siducas, a notorious gun-for-hire and drug trafficker in Cebu, tried to lob a grenade at members of the Carcar City Police Station and the Regional Public Safety Battalion who have surrounded his hideout in Bgy. Valencia at 5:30 a.m. yesterday.

The official said that officers were forced to fire at the suspect to defend themselves. The suspect died while being taken to a local hospital. Taliño said that an unexploded fragmentation grenade, a loaded cal. .45 pistol and suspected shabu granules were recovered from the suspect’s possession.

A motorcycle believed to have been used by the slain suspect to escape after killing Carcar City traffic enforcer Simo Bustamante was also recovered by the police.

In Talisay City, local policemen shot and killed Richard Daan, a most wanted robber and drug personality in the area, at 4 a.m. yesterday. Taliño said that police responded to a report that an armed man was creating trouble in Bgy. Tangke and later spotted the suspect.

Officers shot it out with the suspect, who was killed instantly. The suspect yielded nine medium-sized plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and a cal. .38 revolver. Daan, according to the local police, was the no. 1 most wanted robbery suspect and the 10th most wanted drug dealer in Talisay City.

In Danao City, Taliño said he has ordered a massive hunt for a notorious drug dealer who shot and seriously wounded a policeman out to arrest him in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Guinsay at 3 a.m. yesterday.

Suspect Ariel Cababan, alias ‘Aying’, escaped on foot after firing at PO1 Frances Germita, the undercover officer who was hit in his left shoulder twice and was taken to a private hospital in Cebu City for treatment.

The suspect’s live-in partner, identified as Ruth Hermoso, was arrested during the operation which led to the seizure of six small sachets of shabu. Charges for illegal possession of drugs, assault against an agent of a person in authority and frustrated murder will be filed against the suspect.

Meanwhile, two ranking drug personalities in the PNP illegal drug watchlist in Bula, Camarines Sur, and Pio Duran, Albay, were killed in a shootout with police operatives the other day.

In Bgy. Bagumbayan, Bula, Ernesto Ordis Eres, 40, no. 1 in the illegal drug watchlist of Bula MPS, was killed in a shootout with joint operatives of the PNP, RIU, PAIDSTOG, CSPPO and the Bula MPS during the serving of a search warrant.

Reportedly, Eres, alias, “Saudi,” fired on the police operatives with a cal. .45 pistol, prior to the conduct of the search, which caused his immediate death. A SOCO team that processed the crime scene recovered two plastic sachets of shabu inside the suspect’s pocket; a cal. .45 Norinco pistol with six live ammuniition, a fired slug inside the pistol chamber, three spent shells for cal. 45; and a glass tooter with liquid substance.

Also arrested during the serving of the warrant were Marichu Bayabay Ismael, 22, and Ely Orpales Repol, reportedly illegal drug trade associates of Eres.

When searched, Eres’ house yielded several sachets of shabu, improvised burner, rolls of aluminium foil, lighters, a digital weighing scale, a cal. .45 pistol with seven live ammo and four live ammo for cal. .45.

Meanwhile, Roderick Opelenio Ariate, 47, of Bgy. 4, Pio Duran, Albay, no. 1 on the municipal illegal drug watchlist attempted to shoot a police “poseur-buyer”, prompting police operatives to shoot him.

Police recovered from the possession of Ariate four heat-sealed plastics of shabu, P1,500 in “buy-bust” money; another P500; a cal. 38 revolver loaded with five live ammo, three spent shells; and a black Honda TM Wave 110 motorcycle with plate number 4839-EN.
