A drug personality on the police watchlist was killed in a shoot-out with operatives of Eastern Police District-District Anti-Illegal Drugs (EPD-DAID) while 12 others were arrested during buy-bust operations in Valenzuela City.

The fatality was identified as Neptali Celestino, alias Nepnep, 40, tricycle driver, of 204 MH Del Pilar, Bgy. Palatiw, Pasig City, according to EPD director Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula.

The operation against Celestino was based on information that he was responsible for the proliferation of illegal drugs in the area.

Elements of EPD-DAID, headed by Chief Insp. Allan Miparanum, formed a team led by PO2 Roan Garcia, and conducted a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Palatiw.

Miparanum said Celestino sold a plastic sachet of suspected shabu worth P500 to an undercover agent at 9:30 p.m.

Celestino allegedly sensed he was transacting with a policeman, prompting him to pull out a cal. .22 revolver but police fired at him in self-defense.

He was declared dead on arrival at Rizal Medical Center (RMC).

Miparanum said Celestino is included in the drug watchlist of Pasig Police Station.

Police recovered transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, live ammunition for cal. .22 revolver and two spent shells for the gun.
