POLICE are investigating the death of a stay-in house helper who was found with a head injury inside the room of her employer in Mandaluyong City yesterday afternoon, police said yesterday.
Senior Supt. Joaquin Alva, Mandaluyong police chief, identified the victim as Darlyn Parna, 18, native of Bukidnon.
The victim’s injury appeared to have been caused by a hard object, police said.
She was rushed to the Victor Potenciano Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival at around 11:55 a.m. by her attending physician.
SPO1 Ambrocio Gam said the victim was discovered inside the room of her employer at Unit 3K, 3rd floor, Dorado Tower 3, California Garden, Bgy. Highway Hills.
Gam said another housemaid, Bella Carreno, found the victim when she went home from school after bringing their children’s employer at 11:20 a.m.
According to her, she looked for the victim who was left alone cleaning the condominium.
She said her repeated calls for the victim were not answered, prompting her to check all the rooms in the house.
When she opened their employer’s room, she saw the victim lying on top of the bed and noticed her still gasping for breath.
She immediately informed security guard Mark Ronald Raga and his three other colleagues about the victim’s condition.
The police investigator was told by the guard that when they arrived, the victim still had a pulse and breathing.
“May pulso pa ’yung biktima habang hinahabol ’yung hininga ay matagapuan nila na nakahiga sa kama ng kayang amo habang nakababa ’yung dalawang paa sa sahig,” Gam said.
Police were still awaiting for the autopsy result to know the cause of the victim’s death and medico-legal examination to determine if she was raped.
Gam also said they are investigating if there was foul play behind the victim’s death.
