AROUND 150 impounded colorum and out-of-line vehicles were transferred by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to Tarlac yesterday.
MMDA General Manager Tim Orbos said they started to transfer 150 vehicles impounded at the Ultra compound in Pasig City in line with the directive of the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT) which now had the jurisdiction of maintaining traffic problems in the metropolis.
Aside from the colorum and the out-of-line vehicles, the MMDA will also start to transfer vehicles caught and impounded due to illegal parking.
Owners of the impounded vehicles that were transferred to Tarlac will now have to take two hours trip north to retrieve their towed vehicles on top of the penalties they have to pay, including impounding fee, storage fee and the cost of moving their vehicles to Tarlac.
Orbos said it is expected that leaders and members of transport groups will surely aired their complaints on the transfer of towed vehicles but if motorists will abide by traffic rules and regulations they can avoid the cost and inconvenience.
