With Earl Scottie Thompson already in the PBA, Perpetual Help’s first order of things was to find a true leader.

Enter Gab Dagangon.
Dagangon has assumed the leadership role after Thompson left, and in so doing, he recently dropped a 22-point, nine-rebound and two-block performance to help Perpetual Help down Arellano U, 76-62, in the 92nd NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The effort was enough for Dagangon to bag his first ACCEL Quantum/3XVI-NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week award.
“I just want to help the team and try to set a good example especially to the younger players,” said Dagangon in Filipino.
Next to Nigerian teammate Bright Akhuetie, Dagangon has been the second most consistent player  in the Las Pinas-based team.
He has been averaging 14 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and a block a game.
He could step up big too if necessary as seen in the huge win over the Chiefs.
Dagangon bested Emilio Aguinaldo’s Sydney Onwubere and Hamadou Laminou and Letran’s Rey Nambatac for the weekly plum.
