A railway maintenance worker at the Philippine National Railways (PNR) was reported to have committed suicide by hanging himself from a mango tree right inside the PNR Compound in Tayuman, Tondo, Manila, over the weekend.

Salvador Napile Jr., alias ‘Azul’, 43, a native of Camarines Sur, and residing at Block 22, Lot 36, Southville 5A, Langkiwa, Biñan, Laguna, was found dead by Alfred Mandas, 26, a bridgeman of the PNR and who reported the matter to the police.
A probe by SPO1 Joseph Kabigting of the Manila Police District (MPD)-Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (CAPIS) said that at around 6 a.m. Sunday, the victim’s body was found hanging by the neck with the use of a nylon cord and attached to a tree located in front of the engineering dormitory on Tayuman Street in Tondo.
Railway worker Raymundo Leonardo, 29, told police that he last saw the victim alive at around 10 p.m. or the night prior to his death.
Another co-worker, identified as Frederick Balmedina, meanwhile, said the victim had been irritated by several personal problems, based on their conversation that took place at 10 a.m. of August 27.
In their talk, the victim also reportedly told Balmedina that he is considering suicide by just lying on the railroad tracks, but did not expound on his problems.
The victim’s death is being investigated by the police.
