Tanod, 2 others dead in spate of EJK

THE spate of extra-judicial killings (EJKs) continues with three suspected drug personalities, including a barangay councilman, killed in separate shooting incidents Sunday and before dawn yesterday in Caloocan City.

The body of Delion Banisil, 51, councilman of Bgy. 188, Tala, was found by a certain “Obet”, a tricycle driver, sprawled on Sta. Rita Street at 11 a.m. Sunday with bullet wounds in the head.
    
The victim’s wife, Marjorie, told police that her husband was about to go to the barangay hall when he was shot by  unidentified suspects. Recovered beside his body were four empty shells for cal. .45 pistol.
    
Caloocan police chief Senior Supt. Johnson Almazan said Banisil was involved in illegal drug activities and was included in the drug watchlist of Police Community Precinct (PCP) 4.
    
At around 3 a.m. yesterday, the body of Phi-lip Bonrostro, 39, of Phase 8, Package 1, Block 4, Lot 6, Bgy. Bagong Silang, was discovered by one Bernard Romero bathing in his own blood a few meters away from his house.
   
The victim’s half brother, Jefferson Viri, 35, admitted that Bonrostro used to be involved in using illegal drugs but already stopped his drug habits.
    
Police recovered two empty shells and a slug for cal. .45 pistol at the crime scene which will be submitted to PNP Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.
 
In Bgy. 141, the body of still unidentified man, described as about 25 to 30 years old, of medium built and wearing black shirts and short pants, was found sprawled at the corner of Zapote and De Jesus Streets at around 5:30 a.m.
    
The victim’s hands were tied with cable wire and a piece of cardboard was hanged to his neck with a sign that read “Holdaper Ako”. Several empty shells for still unknown caliber of firearm was recovered near his body.
