STARTING August 8, 2016, all impounded vehicles inside the Land Transportation Office-Central Office (LTO-CO) will be transferred to the new impounding area of the agency in Tarlac City.
This was announced yesterday by Transportation Assistant Secretary and LTO Chief Edgar Galvante during a press conference at his office in Quezon City.
Galvante said the one hectare impounding area in Tarlac City is owned by the LTO.
“We want to serve the public better by declogging central office so that the public may move openly and freely. Ayaw namin talagang makaistorbo kaya gusto naming maluwag at malinis ang central office,” Galvante said.
The LTO chief emphasized that once the vehicles are brought to the new impounding area, all necessary expenses such as towing wreckers or haulers would be charged to the vehicles owners.
“Kaya nga ginagawa namin itong press conference na ito. Nagpapasalamat kami sa media for helping LTO announce this program. Salamat sa inyo. Malaking tulong ito maging sa publiko lalo na sa mga vehicle owner na impounded ang kanilang mga sasakyan,” said Galvante.
Galvante said the processing and the documentation of papers would be done at the Central Office.
“Purely impounding area ’yung sa Tarlac,” he said.
