CAFE France seeks the remaining twice-to-beat slot in the semifinals when it tangles with Phoenix today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO Gym.

Bakers coach Egay Macaraya said that the only way to get in the Top 2 is to prevail in the 4 p.m. clash of the fancied teams.

“We have to win versus Phoenix before anything else. I guess mag-aaway kami para doon sa top two,” said Macaraya after Cafe France hacked out a 86-70 win over AMA last Thursday.

Accelerators coach Eric Gonzales treats the duel as a must win, knowing that at 8-3, a loss effectively ends their team’s hopes of snagging one of the elusive twice-to-beat incentives in the semifinals.

“We’re facing a championship team,” said Gonzales after Phoenix dominated Blustar Detergent, 108-83, last Tuesday. “We have to play it like a championship game.’Di kami pwedeng matamlay so we have to build on our game.”
In the curtain raiser, Tanduay is hoping to at least improve its position in the Final Four picture as it wraps up its schedule against also-ran AMA Online Education when the game tips off at 2 p.m.
