THE Department of Justice yesterday formed a three-man panel to investigate the attempt on the life of Cotabato City Vice-Mayor Muslimin “Mus” G. Sema last month.
The panel is composed of Assistant State Prosecutor Vimar Barcellano, Prosecution Attorneys Gerard Gaerlan and Javee Laurence Bandong.
"In the interest of public service and pursuant to the provisions of existing laws, a panel of prosecutors is hereby created to handle the preliminary investigation for frustrated murder and three counts of attempted murder," an order issued by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said.
Sema, who is also chairman of the Moro National Liberation Front, survived the ambush near his home in Barangay Rosary Heights-7 on Jan. 10.
On Feb. 6, the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group filed charges of frustrated murder and attempted murder against Cotabato City Mayor Japal Guiani, Jr. and six others in connection with the slay-attempt on Sema.
