TARLAC City – A 19-year-old female call center agent died while her two companions were seriously injured after a 10-wheeler truck loaded with quarry materials rammed a motorcycle in Barangay San Roque.
City police chief Supt. Arnel Ramos identified the victim as Mary Ann Mateo, of Barangay Capehan, and the injured victims as Roxanne Villanos, and Mark Ramos, 23, driver of the black Suzuki Rider 150.
Mateo died after her head and upper body was crushed under the rear tire of the dump truck driven by Berlito dela Cruz, of Manibuag Libutad, Porac, Pampanga.
Ramos said the three call center agents were on their way home on a motorcycle while the dump truck, allegedly loaded with 40 tons of quarry materials, was on its way to deliver the cargo to the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union-Expressway when the accident happened.
The incident prompted residents to call for the strict enforcement of the anti-overloading law.
A case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries and damage to property is set to be filed against Dela Cruz.
