MALOLOS CITY -- The Papal Nuncio to the Philippines will lead the solemn “Canonical Coronation” of the image of the Virgen Immaculada Concepcion de Malolos on March 10, highlighting the celebration of the 50th Golden Jubilee of the Diocese of Malolos at the Basilica Minore of the Immaculate Concepcion here.

Diocese of Malolos Bishop Jose F. Oliveros yesterday announced that the Vatican has approved the “Canonical Coronation “ of the image of the Immaculate Concepcion of Malolos, as part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Diocese of Malolos which was made into a diocese on March 11, 1962.

Most Rev. Giuseppe Pinto, Papal Nuncio to the Philippines, will be welcomed at the entrance of the  city and will ride the “Pope Mobile” with Bulacan officials led by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando and Malolos City Mayor  Christian D. Natividad on March 10 going to the Basilica Minore of the Immaculate Concepcion (formely the Malolos Cathedral).

Rev. Fr. Dars Cabral, chairman of the Diocesan Commission on Social Communication, said that the year-long celebration will culminate on March 11, 2013 with the concluding ceremony of the Jubilee Year which will be highlighted by a Holy Mass, followed by the promulgation of the Synodal Decress, Act of Consecration, conferment of KALIS Awards and closing of the Jubilee Door.

The Diocese of Malolos started with 52 parishes in 1962 and has now 107 parishes.
