MALOLOS City -- A lawyer in San Jose del Monte City died Wednesday after he was shot by an unidentified gunman inside his office.
Police identified the victim as Atty. Cornelio Cruz, 57, married, a native of Norzagaray, Bulacan and a resident of 12 Sunriser Homes, Sunville, Bgy. Culiat, Quezon City.
Initial investigation conducted by San Jose Del Monte police disclosed that while the victim was inside his law office, one of the two suspects entered and pretended to be a client seeking legal advice.
The other suspect stayed outside for a short while after which he also entered the office, drew his pistol and shot the victim several times, hitting him in the head and the body.
The suspects fled towards an unknown direction.
The victim was rushed to the Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose del Monte, Bulacan but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives retrieved from the crime scene seven pieces of spent shells and three pieces of deformed caliber 45 slugs.
Follow-up investigation is now being conducted for the arrest of the suspects.
