A SANGGUNIANG Bayan (SB) member committed suicide by shooting himself the other night inside his friend’s house in Bgy. Bimmanga, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur.
The victim was identified as Rodrigo Lorena, SB member of Tagudin town.
Reports reaching Camp Crame showed that the victim’s body was discovered around 10:20 a.m. by his friend Danilo Lanuza. Investigation revealed the victim borrowed Lanuza’s caliber .45 pistol that the latter was selling.
Lanuza claimed he immediately left upon handing the pistol to Lorena to attend to some house chores but after a few minutes heard a gunshot so he hurriedly went back and saw his friend already lying on the floor and bleeding.
Lanuza rushed the victim to the nearest hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival due to a gunshot wound in the head.
Authorities have yet to finish their investigation to determine if there was a foul play or not.
