M’danao bgy chief unhurt in ambush

A VILLAGE chief cheated death while his daughter was wounded when unidentified suspects ambushed them the other day in Talayan, Maguindanao.

Army’s 9th Infantry Division (ID) spokesman Col. Prudencio Asto identified the village chief as Kagi Akmad Compania of Bgy. Damablac, Talayan. Taken to the Notre Dame Hospital was his daughter, Noraida Compania, for treatment of gunshot wound in the body.

Asto said the ambush occurred at around 4:50 p.m. on the highway in Bgy. Tulunan Datu Anggal, Midtimbang, Ma-guindanao.

Initial investigation revealed that the victims were on board a Toyota Revo (LDM-297) on their way home when unidentified suspects strafed them with M-16 rifles.

Investigators are looking at revenge and personal grudge as the motives behind the ambush following information that some residents in their community are harboring ill-feeling against the village chief because of his alleged failure to distribute rice donated by the World Food Program in their area.
