3 arrested for illegal gambling, 2 for shabu!


MALOLOS City -- Three suspects were arrested for illegal gambling at Bgy. Tilagpas, San Miguel, Bulacan, by town operatives and Provincial Special Operations Group (PSOG) Thursday.

Bulacan police director Senior Supt. Fernando Mendez Jr. identified the suspects as Federico Cullanan, 40, married; Marlon Layson, 29; and Ambrosio Fajardo, 35; all residents of Norberto St., Bgy. Tigapalas in San Miguel.

Mendez said the suspects were arrested after they were caught in the act collecting bet money of Small Town Lottery (STL) about 11 a.m.

Police recovered from their possession cash money amounting to P665 in different denominations, jueteng paraphernalia, ballpens and stapler.

The suspects are presently detained at Camp Alejo Santos while violation of PD 1602 as amended by RA 9287 is being prepared against them for filing in court.

Meanwhile, the provincial director reminded all police chiefs to intensify their campaign against illegal gambling.

In Calumpit, Bulacan, two were arrested for drug possession in Bgy. Iba O’ Este, Thursday.

Calumpit police chief Supt. Manuel Santos identified the suspects as Ernesto Clarin, 41, married, driver and Evangeline Turla, 40, married, both residents of the said barangay.

Confiscated from the suspects were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 0.74 and 0.73 gram.

The suspects and the seized evidence were brought to the Bulacan Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for examination.
