CHIEF Supt. James Andres B. Melad, of PMA Class “Sandigan” 1982, the former chief of the Headquarters Support Service, the unit in charge of the security in Camp Crame, assumed command of the 10,000-strong PNP PRO4A (Calabarzon).

Melad replaced Chief Supt. Gil Meneses, also of PMA class “Mapitagan” 1980, who was designated as director of the Civil Security Group (CSG).

The turnover of command ceremony, presided by Philippine National Police chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome, was held at the Multi-purpose Center, Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba City, at 9 p.m yeterday. Present during the ceremony were Cavite (3rd District) Rep. Erineo Maliksi, Tanauan City Mayor  Sonia Torres-Aquino, OCD 4A Regional Director Vicente F. Tomazar, DILG 4A Regional Director Josefina Go, PNP Engineering Service’s CSupt. Cristino C. Campanilla, DRDA PRO COR, CSupt. Elmer R. Soria, Director of PNTI CSupt. Luis L. Saligumba, PDEA4A Regional Director Emerson L. Margate, officers and men of PRO4A, and invited guests both from the government and private sectors.

In his assumption speech, Melad outlined his plans for PRO4A which include the continuation of the programs of his predecessor and reforms for further improvement of the delivery of police services in the region.
